Updated 2026-10-11 · PhotoCraft 0.7.0
PhotoCraft publishes its installers on the project's GitHub Releases page. The current version is 0.7.0. The project's own installation guide describes it as an early-alpha project, so expect rough edges and keep backups of important files.

1. Get the official files
Every build is attached to the latest release on GitHub. The README also points newcomers to the PhotoCraft page on getartcraft.com. Our download page links to the same GitHub files. This site doesn't host or modify them.
2. Pick the right file
In the file names, <ver> is the version number (for example 0.7.0).
macOS
| Build | File | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| App, universal (Apple silicon + Intel) | photocraft-<ver>-macos-universal.dmg | Signed and notarized |
| Command-line tool, universal | photocraft-cli-<ver>-macos-universal.zip | Signed and notarized |
Windows
| Build | Installer | Portable |
|---|---|---|
| x64 (64-bit Intel/AMD) | photocraft-<ver>-windows-x64.msi | photocraft-<ver>-windows-x64-portable.zip |
| arm64 (Snapdragon and other ARM PCs) | photocraft-<ver>-windows-arm64.msi | photocraft-<ver>-windows-arm64-portable.zip |
| x86 (32-bit) | photocraft-<ver>-windows-x86.msi | photocraft-<ver>-windows-x86-portable.zip |
The README states that the Windows installers and executables are code-signed. Use the .msi to install, or unzip the portable build anywhere.
Linux
| Format | x86_64 | aarch64 | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| AppImage | …-linux-x86_64.AppImage | …-linux-aarch64.AppImage | Runs anywhere; updates with AppImageUpdate (.zsync files) |
| Flatpak | …-linux-x86_64.flatpak | …-linux-aarch64.flatpak | Sandboxed |
| Debian/Ubuntu | …-linux-x86_64.deb | …-linux-aarch64.deb | |
| Fedora/RHEL/openSUSE | …-linux-x86_64.rpm | …-linux-aarch64.rpm | |
| Tarball | …-linux-x86_64.tar.gz | …-linux-aarch64.tar.gz | Unpack anywhere |
To install the Flatpak bundle, the README gives this command:
flatpak install --user photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.flatpak
There is also a RISC-V tarball (photocraft-<ver>-linux-riscv64.tar.gz) that needs glibc 2.39 or newer. There is a FreeBSD x86_64 tarball, and a static web build (photocraft-web-<ver>.zip) that you can host on any static server.
3. Verify the download
Each release includes SHA256SUMS.txt, and the project's installation guide recommends checking the release notes and checksums before running a downloaded file:
# macOS
shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing
# Linux
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing
# Windows (PowerShell)
Get-FileHash .\photocraft-0.7.0-windows-x64.msi -Algorithm SHA256
4. Open a file
Start PhotoCraft and use File › Open… (Cmd+O on macOS, Ctrl+O on Windows and Linux). Next, see how to open PSD and PSB files.
